La sveglia è ormai naturale da giorni, l’adrenalina che ci scorre nelle vene è tanta, ogni giorno abbiamo da conquistare una nuova città, una nuova emozione.
Oggi il programma prevede davvero tante cose. A piedi, avendo l’hotel in piena Hollywood, percorriamo la famosa Walk of Fame, la strada delle impronte dei vip.
Il marciapiede è pieno di stelle, l’ultima che hanno messo è quella di Michelle Pfiffer, ha ancora la transenna per il cemento fresco. Ma ecco Marylin Monroe, elvis, Ginger e Fred, Gene Kelly, Cary Grant, Rita Hayworth, James Dean… tutti mostri sacri e noi tocchiamo le loro mani.
Emozioni a non finire e saliamo in macchina, prossima meta, la collina con la famosa scritta: HOLLYWOOD. Percorriamo la Beachwod e “up up up”, su su su fin su la collina. Foto e video come se piovessero!!! Oggi siamo turisti.
Lasciamo la collina e ci dirigiamo a Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills. Immaginate ora la ricchezza…. Fatto? Sicuri? No, vi assicuro. Per le strade solo Rolls Royce, Bentley e Hummer modificate. Porche e Ferrari sono le “normali”. Limousine di misure smisurate occupano la strada davanti ai veri negozi: Versace, Armani, Valentino, Fendi, YSL, Chanel, Tiffany, De Beers, Rolex… il lusso è sfrenato.
Quando la nostra autostima è definitivamente evaporata decidiamo di andar via, ma prima uno sguardo ai cassonetti, non si sa mai! (scherzo!)
Andiamo verso l’Oceano! Precisamente Santa Monica. Passiamo a Melmose Place e prendiamo la santa Monica Blvd.
La vista del mare ci regala la consapevolezza (con non poco dispiacere) che il Coast to Coast, il FRIENDSTOUR07, è finito.
Incontriamo i baywatch, è tutto identico al telefilm, pickup sulla spiaggia, tettone, salvagenti rossi a tracolla…. manca solo in basso a destra, il logo di canale 5!
Casette di estremo design si affacciano sull’oceano, sul lungomare, pattinano, vanno in bici passeggiano, in mare surfisti in attesa delle onde perfette è proprio la California.
Pranziamo sulla 3rd, la zona si chiama Promenade, migliaia di persone passeggiano, fanno shopping, ballano suonano e si divertono. Io me lo sono promesso, ch l’equipaggio faccia quel che vuole: io, a Santa Monica devo mangiare SUSHI!
Ed eccoci tutti e 7 con le bacchette mangiare sushi, sashimi e tempura ehehehe!
QUESTA è LA MIA CITTA’!
Riprendiamo il minivan ed andiamo alla volta di VENICE BEACH. Percorrere i canali di Venice di vivere un sogno. Venice è la traduzione di Venezia proprio perché queste piccole ma lussuosissime case sono contornate da piccoli canali navigabili solo con canoe e minuscole barchette. Ponticelli bianchi in stile fiaba uniscono gli isolotti. Ci sono dei piccoli cancelletti in legno per delimitare le proprietà. Paperelle nuotano indisturbate in questa fiaba moderna.
Non si usano le tende ed è facile vedere all’interno di queste case, pareti intere in vetro permettono di capire che le casette sono dimore di miliardari che non si privano delle comodità. Enormi monitor al plasma, palestra iper tecnologiche, acquari a parete, laboratori di arte… tutto a casa giustamente!
Come preventivato, non rientriamo in hotel per cambiarci per non perdere tempo, così dal portabagagli spunta un abbigliamento più serale. Per cena siamo a Pasadena.
I parcheggi sono tutti a pagamento ed in un rudimentale aggeggio infiliamo piegata come da spiegazione, una banconota da 5 dollari. Pochi istanti dopo un tizio viene a controllare… dagli States ci si aspetta un pochino di tecnologia in più!
Ceniamo in un ristorante tipo pub, c’è tanta gente in giro, finisce la serata e facciamo rientro a casa…. Che giornata infinita, Buona notte, Thelma.
Pensieri del giorno: Prima di partire, durante le nostre riunioni (appuntamenti più mangerecci che altro) ogni volta si è parlato della necessità di spazi personali. Il fatto che il viaggio fosse caratterizzato da un lunghissimo periodo a stretto contatto nel minivan, aveva portato ognuno di noi a sottolineare la voglia di stare un po’ per conto proprio una volta arrivati in città. Ognuno di noi aveva pensato ad un personale itinerario, chi Disneyland, chi Central Park, chi uno spettacolo di Broadway… Bellissima è stata invece la naturalezza dello stare comunque tutti insieme. Spazi liberi trascorsi volutamente insieme.
Pensiero positivo: Los Angeles, per come l’abbiamo vissuta noi è una città assolutamente vivibile ed alla portata umana. Ha zone di estrema tranquillità ed altre alternative e mondane. Tante situazioni di scambio sociale, dai barbecue presenti in tutte le case alle librerie piene di gente a bere qualcosa. Sport per tutti e gente di ogni età a passeggio sul lungomare.
Pensiero negativo: Oggi, mi spiace per lei, ma la nota negativa è stata la Signora Garret (il GPS). Forse un po’ in collera con noi perché la lasciamo sempre in macchina mentre noi ci divertiamo, oggi, si è proprio vendicata! Come dicono in California, “c’ha fatto fare il giro di Peppe!” e noi,dotati ormai di forte senso dell’orientamento (escluso Smart, la ns resp. Percorsi)… abbiamo optato per l’OFF e l’abbiamo messa a riposo!
